The case, as contained in the release by the ministry, is an Italian who works in Nigeria that returned from his home country to Lagos in February 25.
The release reads:
The case is an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and returned from Milan, Italy to Lagos, Nigeria on the 25th of February 2020. He was confirmed by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control. The patient is clinically stable, with no serious symptoms, and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.
The release went on to assure Nigeria off the abilities of the ministry to respond to the virus.
Following the revelation that the Italian who tested positive for the virus landed at Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, flying a Turkish Airline after transiting through Instabul, Turkey, after which he travelled to Ewekoro in Ogun State for a business appointment at Lafarge Africa Plc, the government of both Lagos and Ogun States are making efforts to locate every individual the Italian national may have made contact with.
This is in effort to curtail the spread of the virus, and as of time of making this update, 28 people working in Lafarge’s factory in Ewekoro have so far been quarantined.
